DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND HEALTH EDUCATION

Venue: Pondok Puteri Pos Keadilan Peduli Umat (PKPU) - IHH, Cot Suruy, Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar
Participant: 80 students aged 9-18 years old
Accompanying Officer: Dr Rosaria Indah, Pondok Puteri staffs
Objectives:
- To foster ukhuwwah Islamiyyah with the orphans of Pondok Puteri PKPU.
- To share with the orphans information regarding hygiene, first aid, sexual education, and disaster preparedness.
- To train the orphans on how to prepare and react during an earthquake.
- To distribute the donations collected from Malaysia.
Tentative:
2.30 pm: Preparations for exhibition and disaster preparedness talk
2.45 pm: Arrival of students
3.00 pm: Taaruf
3.15 pm: Talk on “Disaster Preparedness” by Sr. Najwa ‘Abidah
3.30 pm: Exhibition:
o Hygiene and sanitation
o First aid
o Sexual Education
o Disaster preparedness
4.30 pm: Asar and light refreshment
4.45 pm: Preparation for “earthquake simulation”
5.00 pm: Earthquake simulation
6.00 pm: Debriefing session by Dr. Rosaria Indah
6.30 pm: Closing ceremony
7.00 pm: Maghrib
7.15 pm: Sharing moment with Bro. Mesut, IHH representative.
Achievements:
- Ukhuwwah and rapport was successfully developed among participants and facilitators.
- The session had successfully conveyed the importance of adapting healthy lifestyle.
- The team had effectively conducted the “earthquake simulation”.
- The moments refreshed the team on the importance of kindness to orphans
- The team was able to distribute research questionnaires to appropriate respondents.
Feedbacks:
- The students took the program as a medium to strengthen ukhuwwah with the team, and to gain new knowledge on healthy lifestyle and disaster preparedness.
- The team’s presence there indirectly inspired them to study well and pursue higher education.
