HOUSE-TO-HOUSE HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM

- Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Shelter, Jorong Kubuk, Nagari Sungai Batang, Tanjung Raya
- Jorong Kukuban, Nagari Maninjau, Tanjung Raya
- Jorong Sungai Tampang, Nagari Tanjung Sani, Tanjung Raya
Participant: 70 houses of the above villages.
Accompanying Officers: Staffs of Pondok Pesantren Prof Dr HAMKA.
Objectives:
- To foster closer Islamic brotherhood among the team and the locals.
- To put the team’s medical knowledge into practice by providing basic medical checkup as well as enlightening the locals regarding healthy lifestyle.
- To distribute questionnaires for eligible residents for the team’s research.
- To channel collected donation to appropriate party.
Brief Description:
- Shelter and village heads were consulted for permission and advice prior to the house visit.
- The team was divided into two smaller groups and each moved in different areas.
- During the visit, blood pressure and blood glucose measurement were done, followed by consultation on healthy lifestyle.
- In ACT Shelter and Jorong Sungai Tampang, questionnaires were given to the residents during the house visit.
- Donations were given to the shelter and village heads.
Achievements:
- The importance of adapting healthy lifestyle was successfully conveyed to the locals.
- Donations collected from Malaysians were given to reliable authority.
- The team had the opportunity to distribute questionnaire for the team’s research.
Feedbacks:
- The visits were warmly welcomed by the locals.
- The casual way of delivering health education through house visits was new to them and perceived as interesting.
